Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Coast ride-matching mobile application and the coastapp.in website (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by MAMIDALA SOM PRANEETH BABU, an individual based in Hyderabad, India (“Coast”, “we”, “our”, “us”). By creating an account, tapping to accept these Terms during sign-up, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information in your account is accurate, current, and complete.

2. What Coast is — and is not

Coast is a matching platform. It helps people who are already travelling the same way find each other so they can arrange to share a ride. Coast is not:

a transport service, taxi service, or carrier. Coast operates no vehicles and employs no drivers.
a transport aggregator, fleet operator, or ride-hailing service. Coast does not dispatch vehicles, set fares, take a commission on any journey, or guarantee that a ride will be available.
a payment service. Coast processes no fares or payments of any kind (see section 8).
a party to any arrangement you make with another user. All ride arrangements, including any cost-sharing, timing, route, and conduct, are made and carried out directly between users, at their own risk.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping access to your email secure (sign-in is by one-time code sent to your email). Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. One person, one account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

post false, misleading, or fraudulent trip information, or post trips you do not intend to take;
harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, defraud, or harm another user;
use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation (including motor-vehicle, transport, and passenger-safety law);
operate a commercial transport business through the Service, or solicit paying passengers;
attempt to access another user’s account or data, or circumvent the Service’s security or access controls;
use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or collect data from the Service;
impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity, age, or gender.

5. Safety

Meeting and travelling with people you do not know carries risk. Coast does not screen, background-check, or verify users beyond confirming an email address. You are responsible for your own safety. We strongly recommend that you:

confirm who you are meeting before you travel;
share your trip details with a friend or family member (the App has a one-tap share);
trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, do not proceed;
report unsafe or inappropriate behaviour, and block the user, from within the App.

The optional same-gender-matching preference is a convenience feature, not a safety guarantee — gender is self-declared and not verified.

6. Reports, suspension, and termination

We may investigate reports and take action, including warning, suspending, or permanently removing an account. An account may be suspended automatically when multiple distinct users report it. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for a breach of these Terms or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect users or the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

7. Location

The App needs your device location, while the App is open, to show trips near you. It does not use location in the background. You can revoke the permission in your device settings at any time; core features will not work without it. Stored trip locations are deliberately approximate — see the Privacy Policy.

8. No payments, no fees, no refunds

The Service is currently provided free of charge. Coast does not process, hold, or transfer money, and never sees your financial information. Any cost-sharing between riders is arranged and settled entirely between them, outside the Service. Because Coast charges you nothing, there is nothing to refund. If Coast introduces a paid feature in future, these Terms and a separate refund policy will be updated before that feature is offered to you.

9. Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, text, graphics, and the “Coast” name and logo — is owned by the Operator or its licensors and is protected by law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our prior written permission. Open-source components are used under their own licences.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to availability, accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that trip listings are accurate, that a match will be found, that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any user is who they say they are.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coast and the Operator will not be liable for:

any injury, death, loss, damage, dispute, cost, or harm arising from a ride, a meeting, or any interaction or arrangement between users;
the conduct of any user, on or off the Service;
service interruptions, data loss, or technical failures;
any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to INR 1,000 (one thousand rupees).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Coast and the Operator harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your interactions or arrangements with other users, your content, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms. Material changes will be notified in the App or on the Site. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
